Taso Comanescu - Home

Taso Comanescu is a critically acclaimed young guitarist in the Los Angeles area. His debut solo classical record, “Epitaphios” features the music of Tansman, Rotolo and Theodorakis. A new solo recording entitled "Renaissance | Baroque" features transcriptions originally for lute, viheula, theorbo and baroque guitar.

Comanescu has performed with a number of symphonies and has recently formed an eclectic ensemble with internationally acclaimed tenor Charles Castronovo. Their program, entitled Charles Castronovo’s Italian Songbook, consists of popular Neapolitan, Sicilian and Italian folk songs.

Taso studied under renowned American guitar virtuoso Christopher Parkening and Grammy award winning guitarist Scott Tennant. Comanescu's various other pursuits in music include folk music, rock n' roll and music history. He has been a member of the music faculty at Pepperdine University since 2011.
